Credit Risk Officer

My client is a long-established AIM-listed finance group that has recently been authorised as a bank. They offer both hire purchase and finance lease facilities to consumers and businesses throughout the UK. The transformation from a traditional finance provider to a small specialist bank is an exciting development for all stakeholders, with a broader appeal to a wider customer base and a flexibility and financial capability to offer new products and enter new markets. Due to the transformation, my client is looking for a Credit Risk Officer to join the new bank and support the Head of Risk & Compliance

Responsibilities will include:

* Contribute to maintenance and development of policies.
* Design, agree and implement credit risk management systems and processes.
* Design standard formats and templates to manage exceptions, large exposures, deal reviews.
* Project manage any system or credit risk process changes.
* Monitoring of the credit risk portfolio, portfolio analysis, review credit risk concentration, providing quarterly papers on portfolio quality and performance as well as identifying trends.
* Review collateral risks mitigation, including analysis of vehicles/assets which underpin the portfolio and assess value of this collateral on at least an annual basis.
* Conduct quarterly post deal reviews on affordability and quality of deals underwritten.
* Assess probability of default on deals referred to credit risk.
* Review, track, monitor, report and escalate exception and breaches.
* Review risk, accounting, and finance characteristics of lease structure with respect to impairment and IFRS9.
* Perform periodic reviews on credit rating and recommend reviews.
* Ongoing monitoring and hindsight reviews.
* Assist the Head of Risk and Compliance in respect of the asset finance and banking businesses.
* Implements governance standards and processes on KRIs and periodically monitors to ensure alignment in definition, taxonomy and standards.
* Provide credit advice, analysis relating to transactions, proposals and joint ventures, assisting underwriters with analysis of lending decisions as and when required.
* Initiate and execute other enterprise programs and practices as required.
* Provide insightful and value-added credit risk analysis and reporting for relevant committees.
* Provide relevant committees with timely updates on the Bank’s credit risk profile and any material changes to the business environment.
* Secretary of Credit Committee – Administer terms of reference, calendar, papers, minutes and report.
* Bench credit risk practices externally and recommend improvements.
* Compliance with Regulatory Requirements related to CRM.

Essential skills of the Credit Risk Officer:

* Must have experience of writing or assessing credit applications
* Significant desire to develop and grow within the role
* Ability to analyse company financial accounts accurately, Regulatory knowledge, FCA and PRA
* Advanced excel, word and powerpoint skills.

* Facilitate collaboration throughout the Bank
* Manage practice communications including status reports to relevant executives, stakeholders, business units, etc.
* Design and produce reports and management information for relevant Committees

Managerial Excellence

* Support Head of Risk and Compliance in promoting a culture of safety, stability, accountability, transparency, and prudent risk management
* Set direction for the credit risk function
* Build and maintain credit risk management competencies in the Credit Risk Team
* Lead by example and be accountable for credit risk excellence within the Bank
* Support coaching / mentoring of other risk and compliance staff
