Enterprise Risk Analyst

Our client a Fortune 500 company based in the City, are looking to hire an Enterprise Risk Analyst to join their Global Risk Management team. The candidate will be responsible for assisting the risk managers with the operation of each entities risk framework including providing robust and accurate risk information relating to; risk appetite, oversight metrics and ongoing reporting as part of the second line of defense.

The second line of defense risk function provides the framework for identifying, assessing and ensuring appropriate transparency around risk information is in place.

Main responsibilities will include;

* Assisting with risk identification, management, monitoring, reporting:
* Risk measurement methodologies, analytics and models:
* Risk reporting and communications:

* Acting as an expert sounding board for the business on risk related matters, whilst providing appropriate challenge to first line risk management functions where necessary
* Providing robust research and analysis into the risk appetite refresh process, including analysis to support the setting of risk appetite statements and limits
* Working with senior ERM staff to produce reports that measure the risk levels within the first line in relation to predefined limits
* Contributing to risk identification on an ongoing basis, including providing views on new risks
* Supporting the ongoing maintenance of the Risk Register
* Supporting the ongoing operation of Operational Risk Control Assessment (“ORCA”) of each entity as a key oversight tool
* Analysis incidents for cause analysis and tracking open action times relating to their remediation
* Maintaining policy and framework documents version control and ensuring the governance processes are adhered to
* Providing any ad hoc support or assistance to other roles across the Enterprise Risk Management team as deemed necessary

* Performing any necessary qualitative or quantitative assessment of risk to support the management team with providing challenge to the regular risk measurement and assessment responsibility of the first line functions
* Supporting the provision of regular review and challenge to first line risk management, escalating any major risks and concerns in a timely manner

* Providing supporting input to communications with external stakeholders, including regulators.
* Maintaining industry awareness, best practice insight and regulatory knowledge with regards to operational risk management.
* Contributing content and collecting input from the first line risk function to support the risk team in production of reports/dashboards such as the risk profile reports (including reports submitted to the Executive, Board and Committees)
* Contributing to setting industry-wide standards regarding the risk management, by providing input to firm-level responses to relevant consultations and industry forums

To be considered for this position, ideal candidates must have the below experience and skills;

* Bachelor’s degree in numerical discipline or equivalent professional experience
* Experience in financial services risk management and/or risk management consultancy
* Understanding of the technicalities of operational risk, including applied experience of risk measurement techniques
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills
* Knowledge of data analysis tools – ability to demonstrate advanced skills in Excel and the use of at least one relational database.
* Familiarity with other relational databases (e.g. MS Access)
* Knowledge of data modeling, data cleansing, and data enrichment techniques
* The capacity to develop and document procedures and workflows
* The ability to carry out data quality control, validation and linkage
* An understanding of data protection issues and be able to understand document encryption purposes
* Able to program VBA code competently (Variables, Condition) and efficiently introduce macros.
* Experience of working statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques.
* Ability to produce clear graphical representations and data visualizations.
* Experience of using Google Analytics, SEO, keyword analysis, web analytics is preferred
* Financial market infrastructure experience preferable
* In -depth knowledge of the financial market infrastructure and regulatory environment (particularly the UK/European regulatory space)
* Maturity and self-awareness, ability to listen actively, to build strong relationships and influence at all levels and to create a demand for your expertise
* Strong commercial awareness
