Immediate Accounts Payable Supervisor (Temp to perm Opportunity)

My client currently have an opportunity for an energetic Interim Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our friendly Finance Department. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for a team of nine and will play a pivotal role to ensure that all areas of Accounts Payable are operating efficiently and effectively, whilst developing a culture of compliance and best practice.

The experiences that you will need to demonstrate are:

  • Lead the Accounts Payable team to develop and manage the function through KPIs and qualitative performance measures;
  • Assist Accounts Payable team members in undertaking work to meet objectives and deadlines;
  • Ensure Master Data accuracy and completeness;
  • Ensuring all stock and non-stock invoices are accurately and timely processed;
  • Verify suppliers' accounts by reconciling monthly supplier statements;
  • Forecasting all payments for cash flow management;
  • Maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders and ensuring all queries are responded to in a timely manner;
  • Assisting with month-end accounting and reconciliation procedures and with the production of weekly, fortnightly, monthly and quarterly report as required;
  • Investigating company costs to identify areas of potential cost control or non-compliance with company policy;
  • Recommending cost controls and initiatives the company can consider for investigation and implementation;
  • Ensuring relevant and appropriate approvals procedures are followed by all team members;
  • Developing, recommend and implement Accounts Payable controls and best practice through research and processes & controls to enhance accuracy and efficiency;
  • Providing training, coaching and assistance to the business for the compliance of policies and procedures that relate to Accounts;
  • Assisting with the requirements for Accounts Payable in external audits
  • Undertaking Finance related project work & provide support to the team as required.
  • Assisting the Group Financial Controller & other Finance team members with ad hoc requests, reports & analysis as requested;

Key competencies to succeed in the role include:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in accounts payable using Sun;
  • Minimum 3 years' experience managing accounts payable team;
  • Team player and can lead by example;
  • Advanced Excel skills as well as other Microsoft Office applications;
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy;
  • Aptitude for change;
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and to adapt in changing environment;
  • Ability to deliver outcomes with minimal direct supervision;
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Be proactive and innovative;
  • Be self-motivated and enthusiastic with a positive and 'can do attitude'.
