Job description

Our client, a global deliverable FX company based in the City of London are looking to hire an FX Market Analyst, based in Amsterdam or London (with the intention to relocate), to work within their global Research and Analysis department. The analyst will be responsible for tracking, analysing, and commenting on global markets for both internal and external audiences, including clients and European media. While the role is globally focused, the analyst will ultimately specialise in local markets - eurozone, Scandinavia, CE3.

The successful candidate will have an enthusiasm for financial markets, strong quantitative and macroeconomic skills, and exceptional communication skills. Candidates are required to hold a bachelor's degree in economics or other relevant fields at a minimum. A post-graduate degree is desirable but not essential. Direct experience with financial markets is a bonus, but graduates with a strong background in economics are equally welcome to apply. Familiarity with macroeconomic forecasting, especially time series econometrics, and coding is desirable. Comprehensive media training will be provided with the intention of creating a long-term resident economic and financial market expert within the Benelux region. Additional languages such as French, Dutch and German are highly desirable.

As an FX market analyst, you will be responsible for producing analysis and views on current and emerging themes driving FX markets that will be distributed to clients and media. Primarily, this will involve writing in-depth currency reports and initial reactive commentary on European G10 and CE3 FX markets along with other thematic trends. You will be reporting to the Head of Market Analysis based in London.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in managing the delivery of existing department content. This includes: the week ahead document, FX outlooks, currency forecasts, morning client notes, and reactive economic content.
  • Contributing to content strategy in conjunction with the marketing department.
  • Contribute to ongoing long form research and forecasting activities. Examples of such tasks include building macroeconomic and econometric models to understand developments in relevant economies and financial markets and forming strong opinions on current and future developments in FX, central banks, and economics.
  • Liaise with PR companies on the content and delivery of media commentary; this includes broadcast interviews.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • The candidate must have a strong academic record with a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject (Economics, Finance, Econometrics). Additional qualifications such as an MSc, CFA, or other are desirable by not essential.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch is essential. Business level proficiency or fluency in additional languages, such as French, Dutch and German, are highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - demonstrable ability to present complex ideas, themes, and views to all relevant parties in a clear and engaging way.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure such as responding quickly to market developments and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and working knowledge of relevant econometric software e.g. Eviews, Macrobond, Python, R.
