Job description
A growing media company based in the City are looking for a Junior Production Accountant to join their Finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone who can work well under pressure and meet deadlines, so previous experience from a similar environment would be ideal. My client is looking for a charismatic individual to join the office with a couple years' experience in a previous finance role.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processing of all production invoices
- Managing the finance e-mail inbox
- Preparing payment runs
- Reconciling supplier accounts and keeping them up to date
- Responsible for processing monthly freelancer invoices and preparing payment run
- Posting nominal ledger journals
- Collection of petty cash from Barclays
- Assisting with reconciling bank accounts, including foreign currencies
- Assisting in the audit preparation
- Other ad-hoc projects as needed
- Assisting with management of Cost Managers, including assisting with month end reconciliations
- Assisting the production team and Senior Production Accountant with the short-term cash forecasting for productions
- Assisting and reviewing monthly recovery of overhead costs
- Providing cover for Senior Production Accountant as and when needed
- Setting up of new production Cost Managers
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
- Degree Educated (2:1 or above)
- Previous experience of working in a finance with knowledge of Accounts Payable principles
- Competent use of Excel
- Ability to handle a high workload and meet tight deadlines
- Some knowledge of HRMC rules regarding freelance television workers is desirable but not essential
- Excellent attention to detail
- Requires low levels of supervision to effectively carry out tasks
- Welcomes working within a creative and entrepreneurial environment
- Some knowledge of Sage or similar accounting software is desirable
- Ideally having previous experience of working within a media environment
