Job description
A growing Media Company based in the City is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their Finance Team with the view to train as a Junior Management Accountant.
Responsibilities as the Accounts Assistant:
- Processing of all production invoices ensuring all are correctly authorised in line with signatory limits and correctly coded
- Managing the finance e-mail inbox and actioning all incoming e-mail as appropriate
- Dealing with supplier queries via email and telephone
- Preparing payment runs
- Reconciling supplier accounts and keeping them up to date
- Responsible for managing company credit card account including issuing monthly statements and posting expenses
- Posting nominal ledger journals
- Assisting with reconciling bank accounts, including foreign currencies
- Assisting in the audit preparation
- Other ad-hoc projects as needed
Junior Production Accounting Responsibilities
- Assisting Senior Production Accountant with management of Cost Managers, including assisting with month end reconciliations
- Assisting the production team and Senior Production Accountant with the short-term cash forecasting for productions
- Managing and coding petty cash expenditure whilst ensuring that the journal is accurate and up to date.
- Assisting and reviewing monthly recovery of overhead costs
- Setting up of new production Cost Managers
- Providing cover for Senior Production Accountant as and when needed
Requirements
- Degree Educated (2:1 and above)
- Previous experience of working in a finance role
- Experience of working within a media environment is desirable
- Strong Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Some knowledge of HRMC rules regarding freelance television workers is desirable but not essential
- Experience/knowledge of Sage or similar accounting software
- Ability to handle a high workload and meet tight deadlines
- Requires low levels of supervision to effectively carry out tasks
- Friendly, personable, positive approach
- Keen desire for continued learning and development
