Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available working as a Performance Manager for our client, an Educational Training company on a 12 month maternity cover.

Our client is a government backed company focusing on the Further Education and Training Sector, where the idea is to grow the strength and capability within the Further Education profession. You will be working closely with other teams within the company to ensure cohesion between design, development, engagement and communications in delivering programs.

You will be responsible for delivery on grants/contracts, supporting staff and developing key contractual relationships and for managing subcontractors across multiple contracts/grants work. The Performance Management team are responsible for driving performance improvements and managing delivery in line with expectations in terms of programme and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Leading end-to-end contract management by implementing robust project management and review procedures: creation and maintenance of key project planning, prepare for and lead regular reviews, monitor subcontractor delivery, provide status reports etc.
  • Leading performance management: ensure delivery requirements are met on contracts/grants work, manage contractual performance, risk management, quality and compliance, set challenging, achievable targets, manage contractors financial performance, drive the long-term financial performance.
  • Identify best practise and build relationships: identify effective practice through data analysis and robust audit, build and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders/contractors/partners, identify and escalate issues.
  • Meet funder expectations by managing the Project and Performance Management approach: pull together appropriate reporting for the Head of Performance Management and Director of Operations, Respond to funders requirements of progress reporting and assurance requirements, meet with funders on a regular basis and ensure there are meetings with subcontractors and partners to address any issues.
  • Ensure collaboration with key teams and colleagues: Support Design team, Development and Evidence team, Evaluation and Quality Assurance team and Bid team as required, monitor progress against budgets working alongside Finance team, work with the companies External Assurance Group and Expert Panels to ensure quality assurance, provide regular feedback, assist with subcontractor/partner selection with the procurement team, work with the Marketing team regarding marketing and communications activity.

Experience and skills

Required

  • Educated to Degree level (preferably with a teaching qualification)
  • Ability to manage and drive performance improvements.
  • Experience in contract management frameworks.
  • Multi-tasking ability through multiple priorities and projects ensuring on time and budget delivery.
  • Experience with budget preparation and management.
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive, with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Creative thinker with problem solving skills.

Preferable

  • Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the Further Education and training sector.
  • Passionate about the latest educational research and debates.
  • Excellent strategic and analytical skills.
  • Experience working across the Further Education and Training sector and/or with Government officials and departments.
  • Ability to build and maintain networks and senior level relationships.

This is a Fixed Term Contract (Maternity cover) for the next 12 months. Paying up to £50,000 with company benefits.
