Job description

My client are an international bank based in the city who are currently looking for a relationship manager to join their real estate team on a permanent basis.

Job Purpose

The Relationship Manager will be there to originate, structure, execute and manage new and existing commercial real estate transactions, as well as support Senior Relationship Managers in complex transactions, to support the successful delivery of business opportunities in line with budget, risk appetite, risk return measures, policies, procedures, regulations and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Originate, structure and develop new business in line with allocated revenue objectives, with a focus on large transactions between £15mm and £100m
  • Manage new facilities from origination to closing, liaising with all parties including external professional advisers, lawyers, intermediaries, banks, valuers and working through internal processes including in-house legal, risk management dept, loans administration and transaction management control, providing relevant internal advice to ensure understanding between external and internal stakeholders.
  • Originate, develop and maintain close and active relationships with external stakeholders including prospective and existing clients (and their advisors and agents), counterparts, banks, lawyers, consultants, regulatory bodies and other agencies to grow and diversify Wholesale banking's client base with prompt interventions to limit risk deterioration and restructuring of debt where necessary to achieve this.
  • Originate and execute cross-selling and cross-network business opportunities
  • Develop and implement active portfolio management, establishing more profitable relationships with Real Estate clients, in order to optimize portfolio performance in line with all policies, procedures, standards, processes and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain Real Estate products, including the required platform and any necessary documentation, to provide leading edge products that meet the needs of customers and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare credit applications and review existing facilities to identify any special situations requiring additional review, analyze and spread corporate accounts including financial institutions.
  • Take responsibility for overseeing the administration of booked transactions including credit reviews, ongoing analysis of market conditions, periodic compliance reviews and general account and facility operation.
  • Raise the intra Group visibility and positive perception of the Department by assisting other areas of My clients collective to understand asset risk / dynamics through professional presentations and/or expert witness reviews of special cases.
  • Contribute to the performance of Real Estate business, providing support and assistance on Group projects where required and working collaboratively with colleagues across The Bank to deliver profitable business in the most efficient, effective, consistent and compliant way.
  • Detailed assessment of downside scenarios to correctly measure risk of loss and ensure minimum provisioning is taken on portfolio and profitability maximized and security protected through the sale of underlying assets.

Knowledge

  • Detailed and up-to-date understanding of the UK Real Estate Market
  • Sound knowledge of Islamic Finance and Conventional Finance products
  • Thorough understanding of development finance and the risks associated with large-scale construction projects.
  • General understanding of Banking Practice and processes
  • Detailed knowledge of real estate debt products
  • Advanced financial analysis skills
