Senior Management Accountant (Legal)

My client is an International Law Firm across Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and North America.

Seeking a Senior Management Accountant with leadership experience who thrives working to deadlines.

About the role

As a Senior Management Accountant you will be responsible for ensuring accounts are managed in accordance with the requirements, supervising the current accounts team and preparing various financial reports.

Your daily tasks will include:

  • Managing workflow of the team
  • Promptly assess the needs of the team
  • Immediate escalation to CFO and CEO of any errors, omissions or issues
  • Ensure all deadlines are met
  • Trust account reconciliation
  • Weekly reporting
  • Weekly fee transfers
  • Shortfall transfers
  • Flagging and receipting of funds
  • Payments to lenders and agent transfers
  • Maintain an effective internal control system

Other tasks you will be responsible for include:

  • Examination of operating costs, organisation income and expenditure. Reporting is to be provided to key stakeholders of the business
  • Working closely with the business to prepare annual budgets
  • Preparation of financial statements
  • Reporting to key stakeholders of the business on financial statements and financial position of the organisation
  • Provide accurate reporting data
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements. This involves identifying statutory/industry changes and ensuring the organisation is compliant.
  • Preparation of the organisations tax return
  • Maintaining the existing accounting system. Where appropriate you will be required to advise on updates to the existing accounting system or recommend an accounting system to be used.
  • Liaising with external auditors

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following essential knowledge and experience:

  • ACA/ACCA Qual (4+ years PQE)
  • Accounting experience with supervision/ team management responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience providing advice and implementing process improvement strategies to improve productivity
  • Experience incorporating control measures to reduce risk
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, budgets and forecasts and reporting to key stakeholders of the business. Sound understanding of people management principles
  • Ability to actively communicate, inspire and motivate all levels of staff
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and engagement of senior business leaders

You will also be able to demonstrate through previous roles held the ability to process high levels of data, quickly and accurately.

You will have the ability to manage conflicting priorities, dealing with strict deadlines and bank cut offs.

You will be able to remain calm under pressure, display patience and humility in your dealings with people and have an enthusiastic, positive and flexible nature.
