Job description
As Trade Finance Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for:
Operational management of trade finance transactions in support of a dedicated trade finance relationship manager through involving:
Communication with a dedicated head office department for processing of trade transactions
Communication with end users
First pair of eyes for checking of documentation
Internal reporting and reconciliation
The profile of the transactions will be in line with the overall strategy for the bank and the London branch which will be reviewed from time to time and will typically require interaction with a GCC counterparty or on a selective basis will involve interaction with secondary markets.
Core Responsibilities
Manage with internal teams (Head Office / International Offices / Back office support) and with external clients the whole process of each Trade Finance transaction until maturity. This involves all import and export related trade finance instruments.
Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory requirements for underlying transactions. Ie: Undertake risk assessments per RMA and per transaction.
Primary operational client service contact point for all trade related transactions.
Primary operational client service contact point for FI related transactions.
Assist in the preparation of all reports to the FCA, LON Branch and HO and any other relevant authority
Assist in other areas of the Bank as and when required by the Head of Wholesale Banking
Reporting and monitoring of trade finance exposure
Reconciliation with HO of trade finance exposure
Dealing with day to Day client queries
Skills / Attributes Required
Strong operational understanding of Trade Finance products (LC / SBLC issuance, Export LCs (confirmation, advising, negotiation, discounting), Guarantees
Good operational understanding of receivables discounting
Experience of working with Commodity clients (Oil / Gas / Agri) and managing their expectations.
Sound understanding of Trade Finance Compliance
Excellent client servicing skills
Ability to work on own initiative and ability to prioritise work load
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills
An able team player with a "can do" attitude combined with a flexible approach to undertake any task in support of our clients and team members
Excellent knowledge of MS Office skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
