Our client, a leading city based bank currently seek an experienced Aircraft/Aviation professional with proven origination, execution and credit skills to join the banks Shipping & Aviation Finance division
The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing management of aircraft finance transactions (covering both non-recourse and leasing company-based deals), acting as transaction team leader on specific deals and supporting the team as it develops and expands its business in the Europe / Middle-East / African (EMEA) market.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify potential deal opportunities, take a leadership role in evaluating them and with the subsequent origination process (establishing dialogue with the client and / or arranger of the transaction, pitching and securing the mandate, as appropriate).
To lead the process of reviewing and analysing the key terms and conditions of deals and the associated credit risks and mitigants. Based on such understanding, take overall responsibility for coordinating the preparation of internal requests for credit approval.
To lead the deal team in all aspects of the deal execution process, including reviewing and commenting on documentation, analysing financial aspects (including creation and/or manipulation of cashflow models, as appropriate), checking the correct incorporation of deal security and other credit mitigants, etc.
To take overall responsibility for the ongoing credit risk and compliance monitoring of an agreed set of deals within the portfolio, including annual reviews and responsibility for material waivers, "close monitoring" of problem scenarios etc, as appropriate.
To provide proactive assistance with periodic reviews of the team's strategy with respect to the aircraft finance market's sub-sectors, specific clients, terms of financing products, etc
To assist the team to broaden and strengthen its range of personal relationships with target clients across the industry.
As Deputy Head of Department, to carry out such other duties as may be requested from time to time by the General Manager or other appropriate members of senior management.
To sign internal documents on behalf of Head of Department when the Head of Department is not available.
To oversee monitoring operations on behalf of the Head of Department.
To support the Head of Department by providing assessments of team members regarding their annual review and bonus appraisal.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Good educational background, preferably ACIB/Degree qualified
Previous experience as part of a dynamic front-office aircraft finance / leasing team with regular interaction with leasing companies and airline lessees. Ideally, this experience will include exposure to JOLCO leasing transactions (Not Essential)
Established positive profile within the global aircraft finance market and a range of excellent existing client contacts
Proven credit analysis skills
Strong numeracy and familiarity with cashflow-based financial analysis techniques.
