Payment Operations Officer

Our client, a Global financial services company who specialise in market leading Payments technology have a fantastic opportunity for a Payments Officer to join their busy Payment Operations team on an initial Temporary basis

The successful candidate will work in their West End based Offices 5 days a week and have a collaborative and adaptable work ethic

Job Purpose

Operating within a designated payments team processing high volume transactions, FX settlements, reconciliations and cash allocations for the international payments business

BAU Responsibilities

  • Allocation of incoming and outbound payments accurately and within SLA's across a range of providers
  • Escalating outstanding payments within SWIFT, BACS, CHAPS to resolve transaction queries
  • Processing FX, settlements and performing reconciliations
  • Act as a key internal point of contact for all payment related queries
  • Contributing to identifying and implementing operational efficiencies
  • Ensure all processes adhere to legal/regulatory requirements, internal policies and guidelines
  • Escalate payment issues where necessary to point of resolution
  • Support the identification and management of service affecting incidents

Essential Skills Required

  • Knowledge and experience of payment platforms within a high volume, high value environment
  • Proven experience in a Payments or Back Office role for a financial services business, consumer lending business or retail bank
  • Knowledge of handling payment exceptions and manual payments
  • Knowledge of regulatory framework and AML procedures
  • A positive "can do" attitude and a positive attitude to change
  • Good level of excel
  • Proficient at establishing credibility quickly and building relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Possess excellent analytical skills, with ability to think independently and draw conclusions
  • Learning mind-set and willingness to develop key skills and competencies
  • Ability to work well under pressure, maintaining high accuracy, in a fast paced environment
  • Immediately available or at short notice - Must have RTW in the UK and UK based Payments experience
