Job description

Our client, a financial services firm based in the City of London, are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis. This role will suit someone with a wealth of experience under their belt and who is not actively studying towards an accountancy qualification.

Role

To support the Financial Controller in maintaining accurate ledgers for the company and all international subsidiaries. The role will include processing of accounts payable entries, accounts receivable actions, including customer invoicing and creating payment runs and completing bank reconciliations for all bank accounts. The role will report to the Financial Controller and have frequent exposure to the CFO. The successful candidate will have an appetite for improving processes and delivering accurate, timely and high quality information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate & timely posting of Accounts Payable invoices, multi-currency/multi-subsidiaries
  • Customer credit control, dealing with customer billing queries promptly
  • Completion of daily bank reconciliations for all accounts, proactively dealing with any under/over payments.
  • Ensuring reconciled AR & AP ledgers weekly & provide commentary to the controller
  • Process of bank payments in accounting system and into banking system
  • Produce cash collection reports for controller/finance director
  • Process, monitor and provide support for employee expense claims using Concur
  • Assist controller with preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Consideration where accounting processes can be improved
  • Develop relationships with key customer and supplier contacts and manage credit control processes to ensure efficient cash control
  • Weekly review of Profit and Loss to identify variances and significant entries

Requirements

  • AAT qualified or the equivalent
  • At least two years of finance practice or industry experience
  • Experience of Netsuite would be of benefit but is not a requirement
  • Experience of Concur invoice and/or expense would be of benefit but is not a requirement
  • Experience of cost centre and multi department/region accounting
  • Knowledge of dealing with multi-currency issues preferred (but not essential)
  • Experience of payroll would be of benefit
  • Good working knowledge of Excel e.g. pivot tables, Vlookup
  • A self-starter and hard worker
  • Good team player but needs to be self-sufficient
  • Articulate and able to communicate well in written and spoken English
  • Need to enjoy a fast paced and changing working environment
  • Has a desire to develop and grow with the business
  • Highly IT literate
