Job description
Our client, a vibrant fast-growing FinTech business, are seeking a driven, experienced Purchase Ledger to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will come from a fast paced, dynamic environment and already have a few years experience. You must be immediately available or on a short term notice period and hold experience with XERO.
The Role
- Reporting to Financial Controller
- Enter all supplier invoices to the accounting system on a daily basis
- Understand the chart of accounts of the business to code the invoices to the right place
- Have an understanding of Prepayments (advance payments) and Fixed Assets to ensure invoices are allocated correctly if capitalised or paid in advance
- Understand different financial periods vs invoice date vs closed periods
- Apportion VAT correctly for each invoice entry
- Have worked in a partial VAT exempt business before
- Strong communication skills
- Deal with credit card expenses and obtain receipts
- Weekly payment reports to be created from Xero for your line manager to review
- Offset bank payments on a daily basis - use the bank reconciliation module within Xero
- Full bank reconciliation of the main current account - weekly / monthly
- Ability to raise any queries or any discrepancies that you may notice
- Monthly drafting of VAT return for line manager review- partial exemption working
- Accuracy of invoice entry and reporting is absolutely essential
- Invoice document file management
- Other ad hoc duties as may be required from time to time in order to assist the smooth running of the department or to provide additional assistance
Requirements
- Experienced Accounts Payable clerk, ideally with a background in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Competent in using XERO and other main accounting packages
- Proficient with using Excel and core functions
- Ideal candidate will have relevant previous experience in a FinTech Startup
- Ability to check for accuracy and give good attention to detail
- Team player and strong communication skills
