Job description

The main aim of the role is to provide analytical support to the operations and reserving teams within the Actuarial Department.

This opportunity is aimed at undergraduates currently studying an Actuarial/Mathematical degree.

General Description

Assist in various aspects of the reserving process, particularly in relation to data management and reporting of results including:

  • Running and performing initial review of data movement reports
  • Raising and following up data queries
  • Running ad hoc queries or reports from company systems to enable better analysis of movements
  • Rolling forward reserving models and checking ResQ triangles have updated correctly (checking that the data in our reserving modelling tool has updated correctly)
  • Performing ad hoc data or results reconciliations
  • Running "peer review packs" for each class of business which summarise the methodology and assumptions
  • Sense-checking peer review packs and resolving problems with them
  • Running and creating PDFs of the reserve packs that go to senior management
  • Other ad hoc help to teams

Essential Requirements

  • Confident use of MS Excel with knowledge of functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF and ability to deal with large quantities of data
  • Positive "can do" attitude
  • Ability to run and edit basic VBA macros
  • MS Access query writing skills an advantage but not essential
  • Attention to detail / accuracy
  • Adaptability (to changing priorities and timescales)
  • Ability to meet challenging deadlines
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Currently studying an Actuarial/Mathematical degree

Hourly Pay: Rate £10.00 plus accued holiday pay
