Job description

Due to expansion, our Client seeks an Assistant Group Management Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. The Assistant Group Management Accountant would need 5+ year's general ledger experience and will report into the Head of Group Accounting. The role will have a broad remit, supporting and providing robust financial analysis and monthly management accounts for all entities within the Group. Experience with large volumes of data and multi company/location is desirable. The role will include monthly balance sheet reconciliations and assisting in the preparation of the Group financial statements.

Duties of the Assistant Group Management Accountant include:

  • Assisting in the timely preparation of monthly and weekly Group financial reports including P&L accounts, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries.
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ownership of areas of the P&L and Balance Sheet, providing detailed analysis and commentary, supported by the Head of Group Accounting.
  • Responsible for Fixed Asset and stock accounting.
  • Assist in the cost of sale analysis.
  • Support providing forecasts and budget information to the key stakeholders in line with the timetable and working with the FP&A manager.
  • Calculating prepayments and accruals.
  • Support cost centre owners by providing detailed analysis and commentary.
  • Supporting the on-boarding of acquisitions into the finance system and processes.
  • Supporting the external audit and preparation of the Group's statutory accounts.
  • Supporting the preparation of group tax information.
  • Identify areas for process improvements and automation; support the implementing of streamlined financial process and procedures.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support key business decisions and drive financial performance.
  • Support and collaborate with department heads and senior management to support the development financial budgets, and cost-control measures.
  • Assist Group Financial Controller and Group CFO with ad-hoc projects as required.
  • Support UAT testing of system changes effecting finance.

Requirements for the Assistant Group Management Accountant include:

  • Part Qualified Accountant/Qualified by Experience
  • 5 years plus general ledger experience and the calculation of accruals and prepayments
  • Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset, and stock accounting.
  • Knowledge of Workday and Salesforces would be advantageous however not essential.
  • B2B service background
  • Sector experience in construction or facilities management advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills
