Job description

Our client is a rapidly expanding international logistics company based in central London, known for its strong commercial growth and supportive, team-oriented culture. As the business scales, they are looking to appoint a strategic and hands-on Head of Billing to lead a key function within the finance team. This is a hybrid position, offering flexibility with a blend of remote and in-office working.

Overview:

The Head of Billing will lead the billing operations for customers, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant revenue recognition. This role will manage a dedicated team and collaborate closely with internal departments, customers, and senior stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in billing processes, reporting, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Oversight:

  • Lead and manage the Billing team
  • Provide day-to-day support and strategic guidance to ensure high team performance and development.
  • Support team growth through coaching and alignment with career objectives.

Billing Operations & Reporting:

  • Oversee the monthly billing cycle, ensuring timely and accurate processing of billing activity.
  • Coordinate closely with IT and BI teams to ensure data inputs are complete and aligned with system requirements.
  • Ensure that monthly activity reports are validated and sent on schedule.
  • Manage the annual process for raising agreed credit notes in line with customer contracts.

Client Management & Issue Resolution:

  • Act as the senior point of contact for billing queries with clients, resolving discrepancies and ensuring a high standard of service.
  • Lead regular reviews with customers to gather feedback, assess performance, and implement improvements.
  • Drive continuous enhancement of billing file formats and output to meet client and audit requirements.

Process Improvement & Strategic Projects:

  • Lead on initiatives to fix historical billing issues and manage re-invoicing to clients as required.
  • Contribute key insights and updates to monthly Board reports, particularly around billing activity and trends.
  • Work alongside internal teams to streamline and automate billing processes, improving accuracy and efficiency.
