Job description

KennedyPearce are hiring a Financial Controller to lead a high-performing financial reporting team within a dynamic, fast-paced, and creative commercial environment. This role offers the opportunity to combine strong technical accounting expertise with people leadership and strategic business partnering.

You will take full ownership of financial reporting deliverables, including month-end close, management reporting, P&L and balance sheet integrity, cash flow analysis, and compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements. Acting as a trusted finance business partner, you will work closely with senior management to support decision-making and drive continuous improvement across financial processes, systems, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, commentary, and management packs
  • Maintain the general ledger, including reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and journals
  • Ensure compliance with SOX and internal control frameworks
  • Manage, develop, and motivate the financial reporting team
  • Partner with internal and external auditors
  • Oversee contractual and non-contractual payments and approve budgets within systems
  • Own departmental overhead budgeting and approvals
  • Drive effective use of management information systems, including system enhancements and new implementations
  • Develop analytical insights and improve reporting techniques to support the wider business
  • Deliver ad-hoc analysis, training, and financial guidance to stakeholders

About You

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Strong academic background with excellent analytical skills
  • Proven experience managing month-end in a complex organisation
  • Solid understanding of full P&L and balance sheet reporting
  • Experience working within a SOX-controlled environment
  • Confident implementing and improving finance systems and processes
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong communicator with proven relationship-building skills
  • Personable, credible, and confident leading and developing a team

Desirable Experience

  • Microsoft Office, SAP, Hyperion, Business Objects, or similar systems
  • Experience within media, creative, or similarly dynamic industries
