Job description

My client an established City Law firm, are looking for a Paralegal to join their securitisation team based in their Colchester Office. This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate who has either their LPC or is currently studying for this exam or has property/ legal experience

The successful candidates will eventually be responsible for their own caseload and have the opportunity to join a company that will fully support their growth in establishing a legal career

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Solicitors with specific tasks in relations to their files: including identifying Titles, obtaining Official Copy Entries and Office Copy Documents from the Land Registry Link, carrying out Searches, obtaining items from Local Authorities, chasing for outstanding items, carrying out pre-completion Land Registry Searches and dealing with post-completion matters;
  • Keep the Solicitor updated with progress reports
  • Ensure files are up to date and filed accurately electronically
  • Supporting and provide cover to the other paralegals within the team
  • Meeting targets for example monthly billing targets
  • Undertaking tasks and duties that are appropriate for the role of Paralegal, dealing with changes in information systems and new technology
  • Adhoc support to other teams if capacity allows

Person Specification

  • At least 2.1 degree or equivalent in Law (or appropriate conversion)
  • Successful completed / currently studying your LPC
  • Ambitious and willing to learn
  • Diligent and able to take responsibility for their own
  • Experience of conducting effective legal duties
  • Competent in all MS applications, to include Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good communication skills at all levels
  • Must be client focused and have an approachable manner
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and be able to prioritise a heavy workload
  • Self-motivated and a team player

Desirable
Studying CILEX

  • Knowledge of DMS (Document Management System);
  • Previous property or conveyancing experience


Salary: £19,000 - £21,000 dependent on experience plus benefits

Hybrid working: 2 days in the office (full time in the office for the first couple of months whilst training)
