Job description

Our Client a leading Banking in the City are looking for a Senior Management Accountant to join the team on a hybrid wroking basis.

This role is key in managing MI and Financial Planning within the firms Finance department. The core function of this role is the production of regular Management Information for the bank. As a Finance Business Partner the individual will act as a key contact to the strategic business units Treasury, Corporate Banking and Private Banking as well as the relevant contacts in the organisations group Finance Head office and will have to be confident in facing off the business units and support functions on a regular basis for general and ad hoc queries.

Management information will be both financial and non-financial and requires strong analytical thinking as well as the ability to provide accuracy and high quality output. The role will furthermore require the individual to organize, plan and control the annual budgeting & quarterly forecasting process as well as managing the month end cost process and perform detailed cost analysis of the business.

Principal Accountabilities and Duties

  • Production & Review of Monthly Finance & SBU Management Information Packs

  • Cost Analysis ensuring accurate reporting

  • Assist in planning processes

  • Development, enhancement and improvement of the current MI information Continuous Enhancement of Budgeting & Forecasting processes

  • Create a base of Financial knowledge within the Bank to assist business and senior management in their decision making with both retrospective and forward planning MI

  • Build strong relationships with key individuals in the business & support functions

  • Undertake necessary project work or deal with ad hoc request

  • Identify new risks/control gaps within own area and escalate accordingly to your Line Manager and/or Head of Department.

Qualifications, knowledge and skills

The successful candidate will be a qualified or part qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA,CIMA) ideally with 2-3 years experience with a background in management accounting in the banking environment both on revenue and cost side, (inc. budgeting & forecasting) and proven experience in adding value to existing reporting. The candidate will be expected to work successfully in a team environment, and possess good communication skills with the confidence to deal with senior management on a one to one basis.
