Job description

Our client, and amazing media production company is looking to take on a finance assistant on a 12 month FTC with scope to go permanent. The Finance Assistant will report in to the Finance Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial administration tasks of our successful and constantly expanding international distribution division.

Responsibilities

  • Create, issue and administer global invoices pursuant to program licence agreements, setting up and maintaining customers and suppliers
  • Pursue and track all collections related to global invoices, updating and circulating AR list
  • Set up payments on online banking and monitor account for incoming payments
  • Liaise with suppliers and customers regarding queries
  • Reconcile payments of all licence fees to various producers and/or programs as necessary
  • Monitor finance email and action emails
  • Coding T&E expenses and AP invoices, Water, gas, printer bills etc
  • Prepare accurate and complete journal entries to reflect General Ledger transactions
  • Prepare quarterly VAT submission for HMRC
  • Process withholding tax applications, certificate of residence applications
  • Liaising with merchandise assistant to arrange payment of royalty statements, maintaining reports to enable managing against IFRS15
  • Perform month-end closing activities for the distribution transactions
  • Prepare various monthly reports, including commission, revenue and sales tracking
  • Prepare analysis of General Ledger accounts as required
  • Update the payment tracker, liaising with material ops for updates on deliveries
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in basic bookkeeping practices/ AAT
  • Intermediate excel skills - vlookups, pivot tables
  • Prior experience with accounting software and rights management database software is essential (Netsuite, Quick Books)
  • Prior experience dealing with foreign exchange payments would be beneficial
  • Familiarity with VAT
  • Familiarity with tax withholding practices
  • Proven capacity to contribute positively to team work
  • Ability to both follow direction and work independently to effectively manage workload and prioritise activities
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written as direct communication with clients and liaising with finance teams abroad
  • Previous experience in distribution, television or other entertainment media is an advantage.
