Job description

KennedyPearce are hiring a Senior Financial Accountant for an FMCG company based in Brentford. This role will offer full hybrid working. The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for daily bookkeeping, internal and external financial reporting, tax filing/compliance and general oversight of the administration. The role requires a high level of interaction with other members of the team and finance staff based in the UK and Europe. The Accountant shall demonstrate a thorough understanding of interpreting and communicating financial data in a multicurrency environment and professional knowledge in FRS102 (UK GAAP) and IFRS.

The Role:

  • Daily bookkeeping in cooperation with account receivables/payables in Finland HQ
  • Full ownership of monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing of accounts, including the preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS and FRS102
  • Supporting the preparation and review of the annual budget
  • Accurate cash flow management and cash flow forecasts
  • Currency hedging treatment in accounting together with Group treasury
  • Responsibility for statutory reporting (VAT, CIT, statistical, etc.)
  • Interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial stakeholders, advise on the business impact and make appropriate recommendations

Controls

  • Review ledger for potential bad debts and perform first level debt collection
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Ownership of balance sheet controls
  • Ensure the PO process is being adhered to and used to generate month end accruals
  • Identify areas for improvement and Implement relevant Internal Controls
  • Oversee all regulatory compliance issues

Overall

  • Managing external relationships (bankers, auditors, pension, Employee Share Trust, HMRC, etc.)
  • Contribute commercially to increasing profitability, working closely with marketing and sales teams
  • Identify areas for improvement and assist Financial Director in driving change to continuously improve operating environment
  • Supporting the annual statutory audit and financial statement preparation process under IFRS
  • Liaise with external advisors on the preparation of statutory financial information
