Job description

This role is a key position in the organisation as it seeks to develop the finance function as the business experiences an early growth phase. The business has further growth planned and it is essential the finance function is geared to support the business in its ambitious plans. The role is a broad and diverse finance role, it requires an innovative but structured mind-set that will thrive in a fast paced PE environment, the role is ultimately direct support for the Finance Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a finance team of 5 accounts assistants and a credit controller
  • Deputise for the Finance Director when required
  • Manage month end close and produce monthly consolidated management accounts with analytics on a timely basis
  • Manage all core finance processes and procedures, such as accounts payable, insurance broking accounting, payroll and treasury.
  • Document and manage finance controls and champion the control environment within the business
  • Manage cash in a multi-currency environment and produce regular cashflow forecasts
  • Review all finance processes and procedures, lead projects to re-engineer inefficient practices by delivering innovative solutions
  • Manage the development of all finance systems
  • Produce rolling forecasts and lead the budget process
  • The finance representative on internal committees and working groups
  • Produce annual statutory financial statements and lead the external audit
  • In house expert on Financial Reporting Standards, any other GAAP experience would be a benefit given the international nature of the organisation
  • Support the Finance Director on M&A and further PE funding when required

Technical requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Technically very strong, preference for UK GAAP/FRS knowledge in a multi-currency environment, would be beneficial to have varied GAAP background
  • Exposure to accounting systems and processes and the development of them
  • Exposure to a change environment and projects
  • Private equity business experience beneficial

  • SME experience (applicants cannot be from a purely insurance background)
