Job description

This company is a high growth, highly entrepreneurial private company currently producing highly desirable premium products. Led by the founders and with private equity backing, they are investing in the growth of this business through capacity expansion and people capability.

Reporting to the CFO, the business requires a Financial Controller to ensure that the company employs robust operational, budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes and delivers accurate and comprehensive reports and analysis to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Managing a team of 7 direct reports, the Financial Controller will be accountable for directing and controlling general accounting functions - financial accounting, cost accounting, AR/AP
  • Managing the financial controls of the business, including cash-flow management, forecasting and budgeting
  • Risk and Compliance, including ensuring the group's financial risks are managed and that cash-flow strategies are put in place to meet all debt as they fall due
  • Systems and process improvement to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial systems

The Financial Controller is a critical finance leadership role which demands a high calibre individual. Suitably qualified candidates will have demonstrated experience in a Media setting. They can provide a 'hands-on' approach to ensure finance activities are carried out in a timely and accurate manner.

The successful candidate will be technically competent and confident in engaging in discussions with the executive management team (revenue and cost centre managers) with strong communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of staff (locally and nationally).

You will demonstrate thorough competency in accounting, treasury, tax, budgeting, margin analysis and cash management. A tertiary qualification in finance, commerce or a related discipline supported by a post-graduate qualification as ACA or ACCA is required. They will be very comfortable working in a fast paced and entrepreneurial setting. It is critical that the FC has created a highly capable and engaged team.
