HEAD OF CORPORATE ACCOUNTING

One of my longest standing clients are looking for a Head of Corporate accounting to join their ever-growing team.

PURPOSE:

To prepare all statutory reporting and consolidation requirements, including provision of group statutory and regulatory information amd tp lead the treasury function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaising with the groups auditors and leading the annual audit process
  • Preparation of the annual statutory accounts
  • Preparation of the quarterly consolidation reporting package
  • Preparation of audit files
  • Preparation of accounting policy and position papers
  • Ensuring J-Sox compliance within the corporate accounting and treasury functions
  • Management of the cash flow position and reporting
  • Management of the banking relationships
  • Management of the relationship with the parent companies accounting and finance teams
  • Management of the responsibilities in the running of its Defined Benefit Pension Fund
  • Involvement in system development projects
  • Successful reporting, with full confidence in the integrity and accuracy of the financials being reported
  • Maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the financial positions being reported
  • Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Liaising with and reviewing the work and reconciliations of other members of the finance team
  • Ensuring compliance of the payment approval process is maintained
  • Other ad hoc tasks which may arise
  • Responsible for the leadership & management of all colleagues who report into this role. This consists of setting clear direction and standards, continuously reviewing performance against expectations, providing motivation & coaching supporting and addressing any gaps in performance
  • Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of other colleagues by checking equipment or systems of work are safe and without risks to health, there are arrangements to ensure the safe use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances and there is guidance, training and supervision for all colleagues.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting standards / processes
  • Strong Data Manipulation / interrogation skills
  • Attention to detail, but also have the ability to take a high-level approach
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Good IT skills (Excel - preferable at Advanced level, and Oracle)
  • Good working knowledge of TM1 and ADRA accounts
  • Team Player, willing to learn and drive initiatives forward

Experience

  • Demonstrate commercial acumen

Qualifications

  • Qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA

Knowledge

  • Full understanding of double entry book-keeping, financial procedures and financial control disciplines, probably evidenced, if not by a formal qualification, then by significant experience in financial (as opposed to management) accounting, or possibly in systems audit or similar;
  • Project management skills (possibly supported by formal project management training) - supported by the personal characteristics below;
  • Highly systems-literate. Experience in or around high-volume transaction systems;

  • Ability to analyse Management information and generate commercial business objectives across the business unit;
