Job description

Our FS client is now seeking an HR Advisor with some experience in the application of SMCR (and any other regulatory responsibilities that might be associated with the HR function) who will be required to manage relevant processes, working closely with the business and the Compliance Department. Whilst this will be the main focus of the role, they will also be required to provide some generalist administrative HR support to the team.

Core Responsibilities

Regulatory/SMCR Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain all SMCR HR related activities across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, exit/handover and related documentation (e.g. job descriptions, Statements of Responsibility (SoRs), Training Plans
  • Provide subject matter expertise to affected employees and managers, including supporting SMFs to understand regulatory requirements and answering queries as required
  • Manage regulatory reporting and notification requirements to the FCA
  • Registration and de-registration of SMFs, and amendments to existing SMF registrations
  • Notice of ceasing to perform a controlled function
  • Annual conduct rule return submissions
  • Keep up to date on the team-wide analysis provided on regulatory requirements re: SMCR and ensure any impacts on the Certification Regime are implemented in a proactive manner

HR Administrative Responsibilities

  • Support the HR team with administrative work as and when required, including preparing letters, references, record-keeping, updating org charts, new joiner administration and leaver documentation and data input to Oracle
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as required by the HR team

Required Skills/Experience:

  • All-round knowledge of SMCR and the ability to work confidently with senior management, challenging where necessary with regards to regulation
  • Degree level and/or having achieved or currently studying for a CIPD qualification
  • Experience managing SMCR set-up/implementation or managing other regulatory or HR projects within a financial services environment
  • Solid knowledge and practical experience of working with the SMCR framework
