Job description

Our client, a leading Prime Real Estate firm currently seek a Real Estate Portfolio & Credit Analyst to support the credit manager and portfolio manager in managing the credit underwriting processes and ongoing management of Prime Residential development loans until repayment.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role ultimately lines into the Credit Committee to provide them with confidence in the management of the underlying Loan Book and management of the credit underwriting processes.
  • You will be responsible for "Best in Class" standards of Portfolio loan management, loan monitoring and credit underwriting.
  • Assist the credit manager and portfolio manager by taking responsibility for specific projects to help improve the credit and portfolio management processes, decision making, tools and data.
  • Ensure the portfolio is managed on a best-in-class basis with the aim of zero loan defaults.
  • Assist the Credit Manager with the review and sign off, of credit papers, meeting minutes, ensure we maintain accurate and thorough records of decisions and follow up on actions.
  • Assist with sign off processes for new transactions and maintain trackers and report progress
  • Assist the Portfolio Manager to provide expert input into new transactions especially development loans
  • Assist the Credit Manager with the management of the professional panel
  • Assist with the tracking and sign off, of Conditions Precedent and Conditions Subsequent

Loan Management

  • Assist with the monitoring and management of development facilities, including assisting with co-ordinating site visits, maintaining calendars, monitoring performance of loans against covenants
  • Assist with the management of interim drawdowns, provide forecast drawdowns to Finance, maintain trackers and ensure we adhere to our SLAs, provide reporting
  • Assist with the tracking and reporting of the closing of conditions subsequent
  • Assist with loan monitoring, preparing of individual loan reports, ensuring actions and captured and closed in the timely manner. Assisting in the preparation of reports providing an overview of the whole portfolio and analysis of the performance of the portfolio as a whole
  • Assist with preparing of reports for funding partners and preparing for audits
  • Supporting the credit grading process
  • Supporting the active management of watchlist cases and workout/restructuring cases to avoid or remedy default and maximise recovery

Experience and skills required:

  • The ideal candidate will have 1-2+ years of UK based credit risk experience within a real estate lending environment for example at an investment bank, non-bank lender, private equity firm, debt fund etc
  • Deep understanding of the UK residential property development finance market.
  • Experience of writing credit papers and financial modelling
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
