About the Role

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join a leading infrastructure business based in Central London on a hybrid working basis. This pivotal role will support the delivery of high-quality financial reporting, control, and compliance activities across the business. You will work closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team to ensure month-end close, balance sheet integrity, and statutory obligations are met, while driving improvements across processes, systems, and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review key month-end journals and reconciliations
  • Maintain and review balance sheet control accounts
  • Manage the fixed asset register, depreciation reviews, and capex monitoring
  • Support lease accounting under IFRS 16, including asset and liability schedules
  • Participate in internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules
  • Collaborate with other finance functions (e.g., Commercial Finance, Shared Services) to ensure alignment and accuracy
  • Assist in developing and documenting finance policies, controls, and procedures
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members
  • Support the finance leadership team with ad hoc analysis and project work

Qualifications & Experience:

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
  • Strong background in financial accounting, with hands-on experience in month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial control
  • Practice-trained (Big 4 or mid-tier) desirable
  • Experience in a larger, multi-site, or complex organisation preferred
  • Exposure to asset-heavy or leasing businesses highly desirable
  • Knowledge of fixed asset, lease, or inventory accounting processes advantageous
  • Good understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS, particularly IFRS 16
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Navision, or Business Central strongly preferred
  • Experience preparing audit packs or working with external auditors beneficial
