Financial Controller

Our Client, a globally recognised sports media firm is looking to add an enthusiastic, vibrant and motivational Financial Controller to cover a maternity period. This role will suit a hands-on, accurate, technically strong and versatile financial controller. The role demands delivery at a pace to a high standard, with the ability to use and act on information, and predicting the needs of the business as it grows and develops.
This is an excellent opportunity providing wide exposure to all finance related responsibilities while being able to shape and influence delivery, processes and the wider business in a young, energetic, ambitious social media group.


RESPONSIBILITIES

• All aspects of Financial Control for the UK Business.
• Monitoring and closely managing performance against financial targets.
• Preparation of UK and Group management information including communication with budget holders, US controller, and management.
• Management of the annual Budgeting & quarterly Forecasting processes including reporting to Leadership Team.
• Close cash and cost management, working with the business to ensure optimal use of resources.
• Ensure a high standard of financial controls and efficient processes are maintained within the business.
• Implement process and system changes/improvements appropriate to the growth in the business.
• Ensure all UK Tax Compliance including VAT, Employment taxes and Corporation Tax is completed to a high standard in a timely manner.
• Treasury management including payments, cash flow, and forex management.
• Completion of year-end including preparation of Annual Group Accounts and overall management of the audit process.
• Development & progression of the Financial Accountant
• Job cover/Back up for Financial Accountant
• Business Partner to the UK business and key contact for NY Financial Controller.
• Liaison with partner companies and external advisors as required.
• Analysis as required.
• Other ad hoc tasks as required.

REQUIREMENTS

Technical Skills/Experience:

• Qualified - ACA/ACCA/CIMA
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience of completing, unsupervised Statutory Accounts with a good working knowledge of FRS102
• Exposure to UK tax compliance
• Understanding of project accounting and revenue recognition over long term contracts.
• Staff management

• Diligent with strong attention to detail and desire to complete all tasks to a high standard.
• Hands-on approach is essential but must be able to step back and quickly communicate the overview position.
• Self-organised, highly motivated and able to meet and manage deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills - with non-finance colleagues and overseas subsidiary companies
• Flexible approach to ensure the team and wider business achieve objectives and critical tasks.
